Are your tired of hot, sweaty feet in the summer, or when you exercise? How about just tired of your feet being tired, after being on your feet all day? Well, if you are looking for a shoe that feels as good as it looks, there’s a new shoe in town that you might want to try.
It is the PIRO –a lightweight, durable, easy- to- slip-on shoe — and it is the brainchild of a neighbor, Fishers resident Peter Asquini.
“I’ve always been a shoe guy, “ says Peter. “I like comfort in a shoe.” And that is exactly how Peter got the idea for PIRO (another word for fire).
Over the years, he spent a lot of time running through airports to catch a flight…and his feet had had enough! “I didn’t actually mind all the running, but my feet did!” says Peter. “It became apparent that my feet were running the show when it came to how I felt physically.”
Peter got together with some designers to come up with a wish list for the perfect shoe. “It is like starting a list for what you want in a mate,” says Peter. “It ends up more like a description of something akin to a supermodel with magical powers….that’s what happened!”
The “supermodel” shoe turned out to be a lightweight, easy-to-wear shoe with an added antimicrobial agent (so you can wear it without socks). It’s also slip resistant (great for boating), machine washable and air conditioned — with a patented, vented out-sole.
The hard part was over, then, right? “Not exactly,” says Peter. “The hardest part was picking the colors!” Today the PIRO Agile shoe comes in pink, white and steel, and the PIRO Rave adds panther black to the mix, as well as one of my favorites — the orange and yellow “carnival” shoe. “It’s popular in Puerto Rico and warm climates,” says Peter.
PIRO Shoe LLC has been in operation since January, with its corporate offices in Fishers on Allisonville Road. The shoes retail for $49.95 and can be found at trade shows and DSW, but soon should be found in sporting goods stores, as well.
This Fall, PIRO will introduce the “University” shoe, a fabulous show of school spirit that you can proudly display while you run, walk, boat and dance your way around in the newest thing to hit your feet…The PIRO shoe!
