Holy Cross Lutheran Celebrates Silver Anniversary
We love celebrations and anniversaries. So Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 8115 Oaklandon Road in Geist, is providing both opportunities as part of its Silver Anniversary Celebration. 25 years ago, the new church opened its doors to worshipers, and in recent years to elementary and middle schoolers who attend classes on the church campus. “The public can expect a weekend of family fun—a great time for the community to come together, be outdoors, visit the campus and see what we’re about,” explains Angela Dant. “It’s about celebrating the different ministries we have, and inviting people to be a part of it.”
Thursday, September 4, celebration activities begin with a concert on the church lawn featuring the Christian band, Remedy Drive. The music begins at 7 p.m. and is open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and coolers. Friday, September 5, has been dubbed Food Truck Friday & Game Night. Beginning at 6 p.m., area food trucks will be in place for an outdoor feast under a large tent erected on the church lawn. Kids can enjoy carnival-style games too. Again, it is open to the public.
A fundraising golf outing is set for Saturday, September 6, at Grey Eagle Golf Club in Fishers. The noon shotgun start is open to the public and requires an entry fee. All proceeds go to technology and athletic needs at the church’s school, Holy Cross Lutheran School, for students age 2 through 8th grade. Sunday, September 6, will bring a combined worship service at 9:30 a.m. under the lawn tent, followed by a picnic for church members and visitors alike. Many of the church’s charter member will be on hand to hear Pastor John Sattler who, while not the founding minister, has been pastor at Holy Cross Lutheran for more than 20 years.
