Who do you call when your car breaks down or when you have a flat tire? Perhaps you call a family member, a co-worker, or a neighbor. If you’re a member of the Geist Networking Lunch Club, it wouldn’t be shocking if the answer is one of your networking lunch associates. That was actually the case for one member who was helped by a fellow member on the side of the interstate. This sentiment of selflessness and community fills the Geist Networking Lunch Club, and its leaders want to share their unique forum with more Geist professionals.

The Geist Networking Lunch Club is a Gold Star referral group that meets every Friday at noon. The local networking lunch club currently meets at Goodfella’s Brick Oven Pizza on Olio Road. Large enough to create impact but small enough to develop meaningful business relationships, the Geist Networking Lunch Club currently averages 8-9 members per lunch meeting, according to Brian Bodenhamer of Modere.

“With 9 official members at the moment, we think 15-20 members would work great,” said Bodenhamer, the club’s director. “In our club, each member gets regular presentation opportunities and we only allow one member per industry.”

The club’s leaders suggest you “like” their Facebook page (facebook.com/GeistNetworkingLunchClub) to make an initial connection. “We recommend people visit an actual meeting because they have to experience a certain comfort level with the group,” said Marcia Honz, the club’s business coach and a senior mortgage banker at Union Savings Bank.

It doesn’t require much exploration to discover how loyal and genuine this networking lunch club is. Ethics, education, and advocacy are just a few things the club’s leaders stress. “The appeal for a business owner is that you have cost-effective ambassadors— extensions of your business,” said Greg Clark, team leader and President of Greg Clark Insurance Agency, Inc. Clark adds, “You have ethical business professionals who are knowledgeable and willing to educate you on a weekly basis.”
