For anyone that has ever had the difficult task of helping an aging parent transition to assisted living, you know how much easier the task can be when you have the opportunity to truly find a facility before you actually need one.

For those area residents looking to stay in the community, you have no further to look than Traditions at Brookside for Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care. Traditions at Brookside is McCordsville’s newest, upscale senior living community in a relaxed country setting in Hancock County. The all-inclusive community is a licensed residential community that provides a customized living experience with a balance between assistance and independence while offering upscale amenities, chef-prepared meals, activities, transportation and concierge services.

Traditions provides a continuum of care offers at varying levels of support and assistance: Memory Care and Respite Care, Assisted Living and Independent Living.

Memory Care
For those seniors that are dealing with various levels of memory loss, the staff will perform comprehensive assessments of not only their cognitive and physical abilities, but they will also take an in-depth inquiry into their personal stories through a program called BBET or Behavioral Based Ergonomic Therapy. Once they know more about their likes and dislikes, the process offers insights into how to help them stay active and joyful.

Traditions at Brookside has a library of videos and music that staff and family members can use to engage with the residents. This helps reduce the use of medications and decrease stressful behaviors.

When the family members have a good experience visiting their loved ones, they will feel more relaxed and engage with them more frequently. The Memory Care Community is located at the front of the facility, has a separate walking path, daily exercise and a common area to allow for comfort and socialization.

Assisted Living
For those seniors who need assistance with personal care and daily living activities, Traditions provides a “Select Your Care Program” to customize the care they receive. There are spacious studio, one bedroom and two bedroom options available that have full kitchens, individual heating and cooling units, closets and are handicap accessible and offer emergency pull chords as well. There are plenty of windows and natural light, and residents are encouraged to customize their space and bring in their own furniture and decor to create a space that feels like home.

There’s also an activity area and courtyard. The goal of the community is to get people engaged, keep them active, happy and make getting involved easy and fun. All common areas are located in the center of the building, which makes it easy to find. Residents will be provided with an activity calendar with daily activities offered onsite as well as offsite.

The community is designed to offer comfortable furnishings with a resort feel. Some of the upscale amenities include:

  • Beauty Salon with a full time beautician
  • Fitness center with exercise equipment and classes
  • Chapel with several different churches offering services and Bible studies
  • Restaurant-style dining with a resident chef preparing meals and the ability to order anytime during the day
  • Kitchen for cooking classes
  • Movie theatre with big, comfy seats and a popcorn maker

Independent Living
Independent Living is for residents wanting a maintenance-free, spacious one-story garden home with a variety of floor plans that allows for easy transition into the other communities offered. This all-inclusive plan offers fully-equipped kitchens, appliances, one-car garage, utilities and allows for access to the main building and all of the amenities offered at Traditions.
