Jennifer Dintaman

Voting closed at midnight April 10. The winner will be on the cover of the May 2015 issue ofcover of the May 2015 issue of Greenwood Community Newsletter.

Jennifer Dintaman Nominated by Leslie Baker
As my neighbor, I am able to see the fantastic things she does for her daughter. A single mom when they moved in, but now remarried, Jennifer has devoted her time to not only working a full-time job as an engineer at Rolls Royce but seeing that her daughter, Emma, misses out on nothing! From the cultural trips around Indiana to playing sports (and she coaches!) to school projects, Emma is blessed to have a mom that is not just a mom but also her mentor and best friend! (I forgot to mention she volunteers whenever she can at the school too!). And she even manages time to keep an eye on my house and call me if she notices anything unusual! She’s a great woman!

Glenda Hunter

Glenda Hunter Nominated by Sheila Crump
Mom has always been our “Mom of the Year.” She has put her family above her needs in everything. She and dad raised their four children and continue to encourage and help grandchildren as well as great-grandchildren and us. She still runs carpool for grandchildren, makes special treats because she knows ‘our favorites.’ She does so much for our family, she sends countless cards and has taken countless meals to those in need. Presently, she devotes herself to the care for our dad who has Alzheimer’s. She has shown us love beyond measure that we could never repay. She is the example of a Christian wife, mother and grandma that I want to be.

Linda Lashbrook

Linda Lashbrook Nominated by Mary Atkins
There are seven kids and 15 grandkids in our family. My Mom’s number one priority in life is her kids and grandkids. She does special things for each and every one of us. When she has nothing else to give, she has always given her time, her love and her attention. She retired from work in January and has become a full-time mother/grandmother. She is helping one of my sisters with her newborn baby twins and toddler. She takes care of sick grandbabies when my siblings and I cannot take off work. She loves to go to soccer games, dance and choir performances and ultimate Frisbee games. She always is willing to have the grandkids over to her house so that the parents can have a date night. She keeps a corner of her living room full of toys and games, ready for playtime at any moment. She’s the best at helping my boys learn their spelling words. In addition, she keeps her phone nearby between 5 and 7 p.m. every day so that she can take the calls from us kids when we are commuting from work and want to tell her about our day. She is a selfless person and takes great joy in giving to others. She deserves to be recognized as Mom of the Year because she is worthy of it and would never ask to be recognized.

Shandra Swails

Shandra Swails Nominated by Robin Close
My sister, Shandra Swails is the most loving, big-hearted person. She gives of her time and efforts to many people. She’s beautiful, inside and out and everyone is drawn to her because her smile lights up the whole room. She has her own catering business and she always passes on any leftovers to needy families, including our big family. Our mom and dad call her “meals on wheels” because she’s always bringing delicious extras to them. She’s also the church’s music minister, volunteering her time. She babysits for our brother’s kids throughout the week, and they never want to leave. They spend the night and weekends there all the time. She has four kids of her own, one married, one in college and one in middle school. She’s also opened up her home to a young high-school girl who was having family problems and needed a place to stay that is a loving and caring environment. I admire her and look up to her. She’s a woman of faith and would do anything for anyone, and does. I love you Shan!

Kathy Turner

Kathy Turner Nominated by Kara O’Dell
My sister Kathy Turner is a mom of five, ages 7 to 17. She is very busy helping with the business her husband’s owns. She also gets the kids to all their sports functions and such. She is very active in the schools; and is currently the PTA president at the Elementary school. This school year she has invited a foreign exchange to share their home. She always does everything with ease and never seems to be stressed.
