Ruoff Home Mortgage, based out of Ft. Wayne, Ind., is a privately-owned mortgage banker that was founded in 1984 by Dave Ruoff. Ten years ago, he transferred ownership to son-in-law, Mark Music. At the time, there were 18 employees in northeast Indiana. Over the last decade, however, that number has grown to more than 600 employees at 45 branches in four states.

“We’re really proud of how far we’ve come,” says Jennifer Goins, VP branch manager of the Noblesville office, which just opened in May and will celebrate its Grand Opening on July 12. Though they have offices in several states, including Ohio, Kentucky and Florida, Indiana is their primary state, with a presence in Muncie, Lafayette, Greencastle, Bloomington, Columbus, and locally— Indianapolis, Fishers, Avon, Greenwood and now Noblesville.

“I’m proud that we’re a local lender making local decisions,” says Goins, noting that they’ve been ranked the number one purchase lender in the Hoosier state for the past two years, having secured the most purchased mortgage loans. Meanwhile, others who are looking for options such as a loan until your next payday, they can quickly find so online.

They are also one of the fastest-growing companies in the country. This is due, in part, to the fact that they provide their clients with a seamless transaction process when it comes to closings due to digital technology, which enables clients to sign the majority of their closing documents electronically prior to arriving at the closing table.

“It seems like today everybody’s time is a commodity, so the easier we can make it and the less time consuming that it is for our clients, the better off they are,” Goins says. “Not only do our clients like it but all parties involved do, including the real estate agents, the title companies and the sellers.”

Having minimal documents to sign has cut the closing time in half (from 60 to less than 30 minutes). In addition, the online application process is smooth.

The company is a proud supporter of various community sponsorships such as the Ruoff Home Music Center. For the past two years, they also sponsored the Indy car drivers and scored a win in 2017 at the Indianapolis 500 when Takuma Sato finished first. In addition, they sponsor the Indianapolis Colts, the Indiana Pacers and a number of college sports as well.

“We’re really proud of our presence here in Indiana,” Goins says.

As far as business goes, Ruoff Home Mortgage focuses on purchases and refinance transactions. They are also one of the approved lenders to offer programs through Indiana Housing and Community Development, which aids clients who are in need of down payment assistance. They also do conventional loans, FHA loans, VA loans for veterans, jumbo lending and USDA, a rural housing program.

“We now are offering a renovation lending product where the client can buy a home that may need minimal upgrades or perhaps might need to be completely renovated,” Goins says. “We also do new construction loans.”

Goins, originally from Richmond, Ind., has thrived here in Indianapolis. She’s been in the business for more than 20 years (more than five of those with Ruoff Home Mortgage) and has worked in banking and owned her own mortgage shop. This company, however, is the perfect fit. The Noblesville team consists of five licensed loan originators — they are looking to fill three more spots.

“The culture here at Ruoff is a big part of our success,” Goins adds. “We’re all a team with the same mindset and goals.”
