Legacy Keepers declares February “I Love Hometown Music Month”

Writer  /  Janet Gilray

How many famous musicians can you name from your hometown? Well, if you are from Noblesville, more than likely, you named multi-platinum country artist, Steve Wariner. It might come as a surprise, however, to learn how many other towns around the Hoosier state have produced their own gold and platinum artists.

To celebrate Hometown Hoosiers who musically make things happen, Legacy Keepers – a central Indiana educational non-profit group headquartered in Noblesville – is partnering with the Hamilton East Public Library to declare February as “I Love Hometown Music Month.”

As part of the celebration, the library will maintain a special display of recordings and books pertaining to Indiana musicians. Some famous and some not-so-famous artists will all be part of an educational effort to bring new awareness to local venues that support and showcase music, while contributing vibrancy and livability to the place Hoosiers call “home.”

A month long series of events is planned to celebrate the local music scene. Presenting partners include: the Logan Street Sanctuary, (Americana), the Wafford Theater (Classic Movie Musicals), Roots of Life Community Congregation (Old Time Gospel), the Hedgehog Musical Showcase (Great American Songbook & Bluegrass), and The ‘Ville Restaurant (Classic County & Folk). Shows include local musicians and songwriters including John Gilmore, Bob Foster, Michael Davis, Dan Wethington and more.

CDs for sale by local musicians will be available for purchased at the events, as well as at the Nickel Plate Arts, Center Stage Vintage Guitars and Legacy Keepers General Store. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Legacy Keepers Bluegrass Boot Camp Scholarship Fund.

More information can be found online at HamiltonCountyCalendars.com, HEPL lobby or website, Facebook page for Legacy Keepers and in the Legacy Keepers General Store located in inside Whimzy at 940 Logan St., Kiosk 51, Noblesville.
