Michael Spencer, owner of Your Mom’s Gourmet Cafe & Bar, 151 S. Harbour Drive, Noblesville, claims the moniker for his uniquely named restaurant comes from an unusual source.

“I’d love to have a heartwarming answer for this regarding my actual mother, whom I love dearly, but it was actually a running joke with my friends,” Spencer says. “No matter what the conversation was about they would always find a way to insert a ‘Your Mom’ joke. One night we were out, and I told them that one day I was going to open up a place, and call it ‘Your Mom’s.’ Twenty-some years later, I finally opened that establishment.”

Spencer had a soft opening first and then opened his doors on Feb. 19.

“We haven’t done our ‘official’ grand opening as of yet, as we have been waiting for the new Shell Gas Station nearby to be built and finished,” Spencer says.

The Noblesville community has already given Spencer a warm welcome.

“We have had some terrific support from the neighboring communities and residents,” Spencer says. “I’m a Noblesville alum, Class of 94’. I grew up around this side of town and in these neighborhoods. My wife and I, along with our son, live in the area and love the location. We got tired of seeing this particular location looking run down and empty. I’ve always wanted to open a place like this and figured now was a better time than any other.”

Spencer is thrilled that customers already have their favorite items on Your Mom’s menu.

“I would say our Breaded Tenderloin is by far the favorite item we have,” Spencer says. “We do not use grease, and use air-frying, giving the sandwich an exceptional grease-free taste. Our other customer favorites would be our Chicago Dog, Air-Fried Mozzarella Pepperoni Sticks and Avocado Fries!”

Other sandwiches include Italian Beef, Pastrami and Pulled Pork. Soups include Your Mom’s Bay Shore-Lobster Bisque, Bay Shore-Shrimp & Roasted Corn, Tomato Basil, Smoked Sausage and Grandma’s Matzo Ball. A nice selection of healthy salads is also available.

Deserts include Bourbon Caramel Pecan Cheesecake, the Decadent Cake, which has three layers of chocolate Genoese cake layered with dark chocolate mousse, Peanut Butter Cheesecake and Tiramisu, among others.

Your Mom’s also has a kid’s menu and a breakfast menu.

Spencer has a lot of family in Noblesville or in the nearby area. Besides his wife and son, a first grader, he says, “My mother lives in the Lapel/Anderson area. My three younger brothers, who are also Noblesville High School graduates, all live in the area, except for one brother, who is a Marine serving our country and is currently stationed in Japan.”

Spencer has already implemented new changes to the restaurant to keep things fresh.

“We are transitioning our establishment into something like nothing else around us,” Spencer says. “We want to be known more as an authentic food boutique, rather than a so-called ‘Mom & Pop’ restaurant. We are working with other food establishments across the United States to bring award-winning foods under one roof right here in Noblesville.”

On July 2, Your Mom’s developed a brand new menu.

“Some of the (new) award-winning items include a Lobster Mac ‘n’ Cheese (which won in a Bobby Flay Competition), Lobster Bisque from Maine, Crab Cakes from Maine, New England Clam Chowder from Boston, a Muffuletta sandwich from New Orleans and a Cuban sandwich from Florida,” Spencer says.

Other new items include BBQ sauces from South Carolina, Tennessee, Kansas City and Texas.

“We also have new Gourmet Chips from St. Louis and Beef & Weck from Buffalo,” Spencer says. “We are also open for breakfast, serving gourmet coffee and gourmet breakfast sandwiches served on a fresh, authentic French croissant. We will also be selling the One and Only Dole Whip Soft Serve. This is the well-known ice cream served at Disney World and State Fairs!”

Spencer noted that Your Mom’s offers delicious beer and wine, too.

“We have a bar, but we are still a kid-friendly establishment as well,” Spencer says. “We also appreciate and support our first responders, veterans and Noblesville school employees, giving them all a 10 percent discount.”
