Ballerinas and Bruisers Halloween Party

A children’s store transforms into a festive boo-tique for Halloween

Area residents and customers of Ballerinas and Bruisers have grown accustomed to the children’s store decking its rooms and garden with festive decorations on a variety of occasions and town events, but the children have recently expressed to Owner Steve Schwartz that his annual Howl-O-Ween party is their favorite store event. 

For the fifth consecutive year, Steve will host the popular costume party at his store that is located on Main Street in downtown Zionsville. The level of detail to the decor has grown over the years with the expansion of a “Dead Pirates Cove” in an enchanting garden that lies hidden behind the store.

The life-sized creatures, skeletons dressed in the latest children’s fashions and other creepy touches that adorn the store most certainly rival other area haunted houses. Guests will find critters in every nook and cranny of Ballerinas and Bruisers. Aimed to entertain and not scare the children of all ages that come through the store during October, Schwartz emphasizes that he and his staff take great care to make it appealing and not appalling to the masses.

“With each year, we collect a few more pieces to add to our collection of tricks and treats,” Schwartz said. “We want our customers and guests to enjoy the work that we put into decorating our property, and it gives them another reason to wear their awesome costumes, enjoy some amazing treats from our friends at Confectioneiress and celebrate the season with us. We look forward to this party the most.”

This year’s activities include cookie decorating provided by Confectioneiress Cupcakes and Sweets, an onsite concert and entertainment provided by local favorite Ruditoonz, photos by Gina Miller Photography, light refreshments and door prizes.
