Trendy Boutique Offers Unique Options In the Village

Stefanie Childs and Lindsay Lyon met through church several years ago and have been dear friends ever since. They quickly bonded over their mutual love of blended styles such as rustic bohemian, farmhouse and a splash of mid-century modern.

In 2015, they dreamed of opening an online store together and made it happen. They sold things that they loved, the products were things they would wear and enjoy themselves. They ended up having a lot of friends who wanted to try things on. Stefanie invited them to her home for shopping parties and personal styling appointments.  Soon they realized they needed a storefront space with retail hours and opened Blooms & Linen Boutique on Poplar Street in Zionsville. Their business grew and they needed an even larger space, so in 2016 they moved to their current location on Pine Street.

Lyon says that she’s always been interested in fashion and has a passion for pulling outfits together. She never thought it would be a career path, but it seems to be developing into that now.

“Lindsay and I have always had really similar styles and we’ve been friends for several years,” Childs says. “Neither of us has any training or schooling in fashion, but we know what we like.”

They both have entrepreneurial mindsets so it was easy for them to develop their business together.

Childs and Lyon love the small-town feel of Zionsville village. They love that everyone knows everyone, that it’s cozy, historic and unique. Because there are so many small, independently-owned businesses, Blooms & Linen fits right in.

The shop owners make it a point to have items that are practical, for the everyday busy woman and mom. They purchase for the everyday girl. They want the items to be able to be worn to church or on date night. Blooms & Linen carries a lot of athleisure type styles – clothes you can feel comfortable in.

“The boutique is great for ladies who don’t want to drive all the way to the mall, they can just stop in the village,” Lyon says. “Women can get the same quality and more unique styles that they’re going to find at other places.”

Blooms & Linen is proud to offer quality merchandise at affordable prices. The price points for jewelry start in the mid $20 and extend into the $40 range. Clothing prices start in the low $20 to the $80 range, with an average piece being $40.

“Both of us are really kind and we have very giving hearts,” Childs says. “We want people to feel welcome when they come into our store no matter their size, shape or style. We always want to help customers find something that they love and make them feel beautiful.”

The women buy in small quantities because they want to offer a wide variety of different items. Because of this, the pieces do sell out quickly. They have an online store and shopping available through Facebook and Instagram. This makes it simple for clients to order online and receive free in-store pickup.

Visit Blooms & Linen Boutique at 27 E. Pine St. in Zionsville and order from their online store at bloomsandlinen.com.
