Vintage Charm – a family-owned boutique that originated in La Grange, Illinois – has made its way to Zionsville’s Main Street. Inspired by Nancy Allodi’s love for antique malls and flea markets, Vintage Charm is an ever-evolving boutique that provides adorable women’s clothing and accessories like animal charms and many more.

The newly-opened boutique is the chain’s fifth location, with others in La Grange, Hinsdale and Clarendon, Illinois as well as Granger, Indiana. Allodi’s love for Zionsville struck a desire within her to have a store in town.

“I have always loved Zionsville,” Allodi says. “It’s such a charming village. It’s suburban, and it has a good vibe. Hopefully, we fit well within the community and thrive there. We want to immerse ourselves and make lasting relationships with our customers.”

So far, both Allodi and her niece, Lisa Wood – manager of the Zionsville location – insist the community’s response has been highly positive. According to Wood, the store already had repeat and regular customers after having been opened just three weeks, and Allodi has been highly pleased with the turnout thus far.

Wood – who possessed no previous retail experience prior to managing Vintage Charm – says she made a “total career change” when her aunt selected her to manage the boutique’s Zionsville location. According to Allodi, she knew her niece was the right one to manage the Main Street location in the “vibrant, great little town” of Zionsville.

“I was a little freaked out at first,” Wood says. “Because it was a whole new world to me. But I wish I would have made the change [into retail] years ago.”

The store’s fifth location, which opened at the beginning of October, truly displays its evolution, through both merchandise and personality. According to Allodi, Vintage Charm has transformed from a completely vintage store with mostly home goods and related items into a clothing store that is 95 percent contemporary material.

According to Wood, a lot of the apparel they sell are pieces that are coming back in style. Additionally, they sell jewelry, shoes, denim and some home goods still – anything from baby gifts to wedding gifts.

“She [Allodi] has a love for all things vintage,” Wood says. “She ended up being a stay-at-home mom to four little boys, so when they were all grown up, she totally went and did something awesome for herself.”

Vintage Charm is located at 130 South Main Street in Zionsville and is opened from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The shop is closed on Sundays.
