Zionsville to Participate in Spirit & Place Festival with “Dream Green” Recycled Art Event

The Spirit & Place Festival, a legacy project of the Polis Center that is part of the IU School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI, is celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year. This year’s festival is themed “Dream” and has around 30 events occurring in the Indy area from November 6-15.

According to Spirit & Place, festival events have taken place in Zionsville since 1996. In keeping with this year’s larger festival theme, the local event is designed around a theme of “Dream Green” and is featuring works of recycled art.

Specifically, the Spirit & Place event in Zionsville will be held on November 7 from 10:00am -4:00 pm at the SullivanMunce Cultural Center. During this day-long, family-friendly celebration of art and the environment, visitors will have the opportunity to make art, support artists, and dream for a greener future. Visitors can view and purchase art made of recycled, re-purposed or reclaimed materials from more than 20 artists and artisans from around the country. At “5-minute Art Tables” everyone is invited to create their own art using everyday materials. Bring 10 plastic sacks to swap for a reusable bag. Many of you have seen the DREAM-themed rain barrels around town that have been hand painted by local artists, including Best Buddies participants and the ZCHS Art Club. These rain barrels will be part of a silent auction with the proceeds going to the Zionsville Cultural District.

Plan on attending this event and express your ideas for a greener world through this community project. Cost to attend is free.
