At every possible game, a group of students in the student section come together and pump up the rest of the crowd through cheers and shouting. This group of students is called Blue Crew. Their official job is to prep for tailgates and get people to attend the games, but through this group, friendships are made.
There are three main Blue Crew leaders: seniors Ryan Dufinetz, Drew Simone and Nick Krauter. They were chosen by the leaders from the previous year in order to carry on the school pride they had their senior year. The new leaders then chose who was in Blue Crew for the upcoming school year.
Ultimately, the Blue Crew is designed to promote school spirit and encourage students to get out and support HSE athletes. They attend games all across the state, bringing HSE spirit with them.
“I think everyone who shows up to support the school falls under the umbrella of ‘Blue Crew.’ It’s not exclusive, not just a select group of people can be in it,” said Dufinetz. “I think it’s something everyone is involved in when they make the choice to support their school from the stands. Simply put, coming to games is fun. You get to be with all your friends and support your friends in their sport.”
