Kids Helping Kids Book Drive is a Success

Neighborhood families will have new books to read, thanks to the success of the Kids Helping Kids Book Drive held at Crestview Elementary School. Run entirely by students, the Book Drive resulted in 569 books being made available to the school’s families.  The students made signs, collected, sorted and repaired the gently-used books which were donated over a three week period. Students started the Book Drive as a way to give children books they might be interested in reading. “We love to read, and we know that practicing your reading makes you a better reader,” said Rubi Perez, one of the Book Drive’s organizers. Books will be distributed the evening of February 22 during the school’s Winter Carnival.
