Lawrence Central High School to host first-ever Special Olympics Indiana Awareness Campaign

Basketball season has arrived! This Wednesday night, December 11, 2013, the Lawrence Central Student Athletes of Character (SAOC) will host their first ever Special Olympics Indiana Awareness Campaign. The event will help raise awareness for athletes and students with intellectual disabilities.

The Varsity Boys basketball team will play host to rival Lawrence North and a sold out crowd is expected. As important, the SAOC will be accepting donations at the game to support Special Olympics. Furthermore, the SAOC will raffle off Butler Basketball tickets and several other items to raise funds to support this great cause. The main event of the night will transpire at halftime as several Special Olympics athletes will partner with some of our student-athletes to play in a basketball game during the varsity halftime. Fans will cheer and shout during this big game.

By partnering with the IHSAA, we are optimistic that students with special needs will be more accepted in their schools and feel more motivated to get involved in sports to Special Olympics.

This event will be attended by over 3,000 fans and will be a positive and rewarding experience for all involved.
