School Board Approves New Principal for Indian Creek Elementary in 2015-2016

The School Board of the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township has approved the appointment of Mr. Kevin Kemper to the position of Principal at Indian Creek Elementary, effective July 1. Mr. Kemper will transition to this role from that of Assistant to the Principal (ATP) under Principal Connie Thomas, who is retiring at the conclusion of the school year. He previously served as APT and Dean at Harrison Hill Elementary. Before transitioning to school administration, Kemper worked for eight years as a fourth grade teacher at Brook Park Elementary.

“I am honored to carry the title of future Principal of Indian Creek Elementary. I’ve worked under some amazing principals and I will look to match their dedicated servant leadership while adding my own passion and excitement to the position,” says Kemper. Additionally, “I am excited to be able to give back even more to the community that has given so much to me. I look forward to leading Indian Creek down its current path of being a source of great pride for the entire district.”

A product of Lawrence Township, Kemper attended Oaklandon Elementary, Fall Creek Valley, and Lawrence North High School. He and wife, Brigid, have spent their educational careers in Lawrence Township and reside in the district with their two children, Marin (age 4) and Quinn (age 1).

Kemper holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Purdue University. He earned his Master’s degree in Technology in Education from Indiana University in 2010, followed by his administrative license from the Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) Urban Principal Program in 2013.
