Fishers High School Basketball produces 2 victories
Two BIG wins! It was a good night for the Tigers.
The Fishers boys landed the biggest and loudest punch, knocking off Class 4A No. 10 Ben Davis 58-57 in the Tigers Den on Tuesday night.
Over in Marion County, the Lady Tigers upended Tech 54-41.
The boys ended a 6-game losing streak, and moved to a 4-6 record going into Friday night’s home game against highly regarded Pike, ranked No. 8 in the all-inclusive, top-20 Indiana Basketball Coaches’ Association poll.
The Lady Tigers, who entertain potent North Central (12-4) on Saturday night, have won 3 of their past 5 games and stand at 5-12 on the season.
*—The Tigers, who centered 24-of-38 free throws, led 29-24 at intermission and 43-40 after 3 quarters.
Lance Dollison was the main story. Not only did he score 28 points, the sharp-shooting senior also gave Fishers a 1-point lead with a pair of free throws with 15.8 seconds left, and made 2 more that proved to be the difference in the outcome with 8.6 ticks remaining.
Dollison pretty much shot lights out. He was 3-of-5 on 2-point goals, 3-of-5 from behind the 3-point line, and he also made 14-of-15 free throws. In addition, he had 5 rebounds.
Reid Stephens netted 8 points; Willie Jackson scored 6; and center Cam Wolter, in his first game back from being ill last weekend, had 5 points and 4 rebounds.
*—The Lady Tigers, who led at every stop, made 20-of-25 free throws, and also exploited Tech’s pressure with solid ball movements and 9 assists.
The Lady Tigers received a near double-triple from 6-4 junior Audrey Turner. She finished with 16 points, 15 rebounds, and 8 blocked shots. She leads the way with 115 rebounds this season, and her 8.1 scoring average is second-best on the team.
Amanda Surber added 11 points and 4 assists in a relief role, while team scoring leader Ali Gerka (9.9 ppg) added 10 points.
