Pizzeria attributes success to quality ingredients

Aurelio’s Pizza, 13147 Parkside Drive, Fishers, has a lot of fans from the Chicago area, says Aurelio’s franchise co-owner, Mike Stevens. Mike co-owns the Fishers location with his mom, Stacy Stevens.

“There really are a lot of people in Fishers, and from the nearby areas that are Chicago transplants,” Mike says. “They have told us they were thrilled when we opened because it gave them a familiar place to go to.”

The Fishers Aurelio’s opened in April 2016 and has been a big draw for pizza fans.

“Aurelio’s is a highly successful franchise, and I knew it would be a hit in Fishers,” Mike says. “There are 44 Aurelio’s locations in Chicago, and 39 of them are in residential areas. It has a great history of high quality that I knew would go over here. The Aurelio’s Pizza business was started in 1959, and it’s one of the oldest pizza franchises in the United States.”

Mike stresses that there has been a lot of brand consistency with Aurelio’s.

“People just know they are getting delicious pizza, and can count on the great taste,” he says.

Mike says one of the key reasons Aurelio’s is so successful is because of the quality ingredients.

“We have kept everything the same as it is at the other locations,” Mike says. “We make our dough fresh, and we have our homemade meatballs. We also have the best cheese you can buy, and we have homemade signature sauces that are all 100% fresh. Our pizzas are really well known and loved.”

Customer favorites include its thin crust sausage pizza and the meatball sandwiches.

“The Italian Beef Sandwich is also at the top of the most requested list,” Mike says. “Our chicken wings are also popular. My personal favorites are The Hot Giardiniera Pizza or The Spinach Calabrese, with mozzarella cheese and fresh spinach. It’s marinated with a secret seasoning and a special marinara sauce. It’s fantastic.”

The breadsticks, salads, sandwiches and appetizers are all popular. Mike notes that the cheese sticks, with breaded Italian mozzarella cheese sticks, served with a side of marinara sauce for dipping; The Poppers, six breaded jalapeño peppers stuffed with cream cheese, and served with marina sauce; and zucchini sticks have also been a big hit.

Popular pizzas include its taco pizza and veggie pizzas. Fan-favorite salads are its Chicken Field Green Salad, and Aurelio’s Cobb Salad.

“Our original Aurelio’s Homemade Meatball Sandwiches are two homemade Italian sandwiches smothered in red sauce and served on a fresh toasted roll,” Mike says. “They get ordered a lot.”

Other sandwiches include The Homemade Italian Sausage, Italian Combo, and fresh homemade Italian sausage and Italian beef served on toasted Italian bread.

Hit pasta selections include chicken alfredo; chicken parmesan; mostaccioli; and jumbo tortellini. Delicious desserts featured on the menu are the cookie dough shot and deep-dish cookie.

Mike loves The Super Six “The Works” Pizza, with sausage, ham, pepperoni, green peppers, mushrooms, and cheese.

“Pizza is something I’m very fond of, and it’s a fun industry to be in,” Mike says. “I’m one of those people who never get tired of eating pizza.”

Mike has found plenty of fellow pizza lovers in Fishers.

“Families have told me they love the fun, casual atmosphere,” he says. “They enjoy coming in to sit down and relax. Have some great food and good times.”
